====== McKay, John ====== 
 (d. 5 July 1810), fur trader. Born perhaps in Scotland. Died in Manitoba. He was a fur trader with the HBC from 1790 till his death. He may have been the brother of Donald MacKay the fur trader (as is proposed in the //Dictionary of Canadian Biography//). Since there is a possibility (if small) that the historian W. S. Wallace was correct in assigning Donald MacKay the fur trader to the Glengarry County U E Loyalist family, John McKay could therefore have had a Glengarry background. Otherwise, no GC connection is known for John McKay.
