====== Rousseau, Timothé or Timothy ====== (died 20 May 1898, aged 63), contractor. (Mottie or Motty Rosseau) At the end of 1881, he was superintending the renovations Patrick Purcell was making at Fairfield. (//Glengarry Times//, 17 Dec. 1881) In the election trial in Cornwall in 1888 which probed the scandals of the GC election of 1887, Rousseau was sharply cross-examined by Donald (later Sir Donald) MacMaster on the subject of what assistance Rousseau had given as an election agent to Patrick Purcell in the election campaign. Rousseau, who appears at the final stage of his life to have been residing in Montreal, died in Montreal, intestate. In the Surrogate Court records his name is spelled Timothé Rousseau (with the accent included), and the Christian name of his wife (who signed her mark) is given as Celina or Celima. The same Surrogate Court records state his profession as “Contractor.” On his gravestone his name is spelled Timothy Rousson. He was the father of Melina Rousseau, Sister Marie Amable.
