====== Tanguay, Georges-Émile ====== (1858-1923), architect. He was the architect of the Bishop’s Palace, Alexandria, and of the Union Bank of Canada building at the corner of Main and Kenyon Streets, Alexandria. The Alexandria contractor John Ranald Chisholm was in charge of the actual construction of the palace, which was occupied by the bishop in 1901. Work on the bank building was scheduled to begin in mid-May 1901. (//Glengarry News// 28 March 1901) Tanguay was also the architect of St. Columban’s Church (1894-1896) in Cornwall, and of at least one Cornwall house. So far as is known, Tanguay, a resident of Quebec province, was associated with the GC-area only through his profession as architect. For the architect of St. Finnan’s, see [[hodson_william_h|W. H. Hodson]]. ---- Life by Lucie K. Morisset, //Dictionary of Canadian Biography//, Vol. XV * life of Tanguay and list of his buildings in A. J. H.
