(11 July 1802-19 June 1869), businessman. Born at Williamstown, GC. Parents: Rev. John Bethune and his wife Veronica (Véronique) Waddens. He was called to bar of Upper Canada, 1828, and was MLA for the Town of Kingston 1828-1830. From the 1830s to the early 1850s he operated steamboats on Lake Ontario, being in 1842 for example the owner or otherwise involved in the operation of 10 such steamboats. His business failed and in his last years he resumed the practice of law. He died at Toronto. He is not known to have maintained any connection with GC in his adult years.
