Michaud, John

(fl. 1850s), GC strongman. He is said to have choked a bear to death with his hands in 1853, about 2 and 1/2 miles from Alexandria. In 1939 Angus H. McDonell described how at an exhibition or fair in Alexandria in the 1890s a John Michaud (presumably the same man) was the victim of the merciless local wits and practical jokers of the time.
