(fl. 1780s), U E Loyalist. (Jack Powell) One of the black Loyalists. As a Loyalist, he was granted Lot 16 in the 2nd Concession of Lancaster Township, and in McNiff’s map of 1786 he is listed for this lot. He was granted the patent for this lot (described as containing 156 acres) on 1 Sept. 1797. On the same date a John Powell, presumably the same man, and again presumably as a Loyalist, received the patent for Lot 17 (of 200 acres) in the 9th Concession of Lancaster Township.
