Stiles, Harlow Marshall

(died 14 or 19 Nov. 1952, aged 73), author. (H. M. Stiles, Harlow M. Stiles) He was the author of the Official History of the Cornwall Cheese and Butter Board: an Historical Biographical and Descriptive Account of the Dairying Industry in the Cornwall District (1920), abbreviated Stiles in the references of the present dictionary. This attractive, high-quality volume of 306 pages. is not only a valuable source for the history of GC but also a choice collector’s item. It contains many biographies of farmers from the parts of GC and Stormont nearest to Cornwall, with photographs of individuals and also of houses and portions of farm properties. Stiles was the author or compiler also of a Who’s Who (1924) of Smiths Falls. Stiles, a widower, died in Toronto. His burial was from Trinity Church, Cornwall.
