Clark, George Ellis

(19 June 1863-16 March 1922), farmer. (George E. Clark) (year of birth 1867 also found) Parents: John Clark and his wife Catherine Cline. He is said to have had only a public school education. His fine, well managed farm of 168 acres was on lots 1 & 2, 6th Concession of Indian Lands, Charlottenburgh Township. He served as reeve of Charlottenburgh, and was warden of SDG for 1916. In politics he was at first a Conservative, then afterwards served as president of the GC branch of the United Farmers of Ontario. He was married (1) in 1886 to Kathleen or Catherine Urquhart, who died in 1901, (2) in 1903 to Christie McMartin. George E. Clark was a Presbyterian, and an elder in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian church, Martintown. He was the father of W.C. Clark. Another son Linden R. Clark (1894-1952) took over his father’s farm and died shortly before W.C. Clark.

     George Ellis Clark’s brother was the Stockton, Calif., businessman W.R. Clark.
