Dalrymple, John Alexander
(21 Nov. 1910-3 or 4 Jan. 1989), ag rep. (J.A. Dalrymple, John A. Dalrymple) Born at Smithsville, Ont. He graduated in 1935 from the Ontario Agricultural College. His training in his profession included being an assistant ag rep for Manitoulin and for Prince Edward County. Then in his own right he was the ag rep based at Alexandria for GC and East Stormont from 1 April 1940. He remained ag rep for the GC part of this combination till 31 Oct. 1944, but his responsibility for East Stormont ceased April 1944 when Stormont got its separate ag rep with an office in Cornwall. Dalrymple left GC to take up an appointment at Kemptville Agricultural School (Glengarry News 3 Nov. 1944), being replaced as GC ag rep by R.G. Bennett. Dalrymple was at Kemptville Agricultural School till 1970 (assistant principal, 1966). He worked afterwards for the Ministry of Agriculture in Toronto, retiring in 1973. In retirement he lived in a farmhouse near his son’s farm at Williamsburg, Ont. He died at Ottawa Civic Hospital. He married his wife Enid in 1940.
