Huot, Joseph A. Réal

(died March 1935), businessman. (J.A. Real Huot, Réal Huot) Parents: P.A. Huot and his wife Azilda Lapointe. Réal Huot, who came to Alexandria with his father in 1890, worked on his father’s mercantile staff in the Huot store in Alexandria. A few years after his father’s death, he operated a store in Alexandria in partnership with Roderick S. McLeod, under the firm name of McLeod and Huot. The firm McLeod and Huot was the successor in business to John Simpson & Son, which had ceased business on 31 Oct. 1919. (Glengarry News 7 Nov. 1919) After five or six years in this occupation Huot devoted himself to insurance. He was also also clerk to the Public Utilities, Alexandria. He was married to Diana Lalonde (d. 1957). Their children included Sister Simone Huot, of the Holy Cross Congregation, Sister Cécile Huot, also of the Holy Cross Congregation, and Lt. Col. Aimé Huot, a veteran of the Korean War who died 26 April 2003, aged 87 See also Gerald Mcdonald in the present dictionary for a note on another son, Rhéal (Réal) Huot. Joseph A.
