McBean, Archibald J.
(1836- 4 Dec. 1908), contractor. Born in GC. Went to Chicago in 1857. His obituary in the Chicago Canadian-American called him “one of the veteran contractors of Chicago” and said that “Mr. McBean was a member of the firm that constructed the La Salle Street tunnel and assisted in the construction of many of the older buildings of the city, among them the Palmer House.” He belonged to the firm Moss, Chambers & McBean from 1869 to 1872, and later formed the firm A. J. McBean & Co. Married. (children surviving him: 2) He died at his home in Chicago after a long illness.
