Sabourin, Joseph Louis Ovila

(1900-10 July 1976), press employee. (J. L. O. Sabourin, Joe Sabourin) Born in Alexandria, GC. Parents: J. George Sabourin and his wife Delphine Miron. In 1923 J.L.O. Sabourin, who had been with the Montreal Herald, joined the staff of the Glengarry News, where his father was plant foreman. (Glengarry News 14 Sept. 1923) J. L. O. Sabourin remained with the Glengarry News for 46 years, till his retirement in 1969. (GN 2 Oct. 1969, with portrait) He is described as “an accomplished printer.” (obituary) The two Sabourins, father and son, were with the Glengarry News through most of its first three-quarters of a century, totalling (if we count each man’s years separately) more than eight decades of service with the newspaper. J.L.O. Sabourin lived in Hull and Ottawa in retirement, and he died in Ottawa. Roman Catholic. He was married on 25 Aug. 1924 to Juliette Benoit.
