Stewart, Donald Malcolm

(1 March 1862-1916), businessman. (Donald M. Stewart) Born in GC. Parents: Norman Stewart and his wife Annie McKercher. He worked as a clerk at Dunvegan, Vankleek Hill and St. Thomas before going to British Columbia in 1889. He learned the laundry business in Seattle. In 1902 he bought the Pioneer Steam Laundry, Vancouver, which he operated till his death. He was chairman of the House Committee of the Vancouver General Hospital, president of the Board of Alexander Orphanage, and from 1903 to 1908 alderman in Vancouver. In 1896 he married Mary E. Brown of Vancouver. (three children)
