(died 5 Feb. 1936, aged 62), printer. (William is name normally found in sources) Born at St-Clet, Que. Parents: Isaac Laurin and his wife Eloise Joanette. William Laurin is described in an obituary (Standard Freeholder) as a “Veteran Printer,” who worked at the printing trades for 46 years. It was apparently in the Glengarrian office that he learned the compositor’s trade. During his time with the Glengarry News, “the monoline typesetting machine was introduced [by the GN] and the late Mr Laurin rapidly adapted himself to this new work. Experience gained in this way made it a simple matter for him later to become an expert linotype operator.” While he was with the Glengarry News, it was reported that he had been sent to Brantford, Ont., to learn the operation of a new printing machine to be installed in the Glengarry News office. (GN 13 Nov. 1903) He was married to Angelina Leboeuf, of Valleyfield, Que. William Laurin died at his home in Cornwall. (four children) He was the brother of Alcide, E. Leo, Hector and J.Albert Laurin of this dictionary.
