A “resident of Dunvegan all his life,” D. K. (Glengarry News 9 Sept. 1938: two items) D. K. MacLeod died in an Ottawa hospital. Described as “a prominent figure in Liberal organizations in Glengarry county,” he served as president of the Liberal Association there. His well-attended funeral at Kenyon Presbyterian Church, Dunvegan, was marked by the presence of more of the local Liberal leaders than could have been expected even at the funeral of a well-known general merchant. He was married to Mary Ann Dewar. (three children) Edward Cox, in his Dunvegan diary of 1904, listed “D. K. McLeod–storekeeper” among his “Dunvegan Acquaintances.”
