Macleod, Gordon Keith
(14 Aug. 1926-26 Nov. 1998), university teacher. Born in Alexandria, GC. Parents: Rev. Donald M. MacLeod and his wife Olive Mary Usher. He was educated at Alexandria Public School, Alexandria High School, OAC (i.e., the Ontario Agricultural College), Colorado State University, and the University of California (Davis and Berkeley; Ph. D.), with a year of post-doctoral work at the National Research Council in Ottawa. Having joined the Dept. of Animal Husbandry at OAC in 1956, as a specialist in animal nutrition, he became a long-term faculty member and researcher at OAC and the University of Guelph (OAC became part of the newly founded University of Guelph in 1964), serving as chairman of the Dept. of Animal and Poultry Science, and as a member of the senate and board of governors of the University of Guelph. On retirement, he was named professor emeritus. He was married at Guelph, Ont., on 25 April 1959 to Cynthia Allinson. (two children) He died in Hamilton, Ont.
